Shanghai, China in the 1940s is a miniature world at that time. The bustling city of international trade, as well as an arena of clashing interests, where pihak2 across time, US-UK-Germany-France and Japan, with China as its host, mingling in one city. The film is running when the Japanese have mastered China, but not entirely in Shanghai.
Paul Soames (John Cusack) is a journalist who is also a United States Navy intelligence officer in the midst of World War II. His best friend, Connor (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is mysteriously shot dead in the district of Japan (what's with Morgan and peran2 who died at the beginning of the movie? =_=). Connor was considering the intelligence agent / spy who is in the collection of information, and if his identity is revealed, then the suspect will be plenty.
